In 2020, Kokhanok joined forces with IES and the Alaska Center for Energy and Power to bring its 2010 wind system back online. Once the turbines were rehabbed and running in February 2021, the community moved to the next stage of its renewable system expansion, adding improved turbine controls, a load-regulated boiler, ETS units, and a BESS.
